Metro Paramedics Awarded Gold
GLEN ELLYN, IL, 2025 — The Village of Glen Ellyn – Metro Paramedics has been awarded the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Achievement Award for outstanding emergency care for heart attack and stroke patients.
This national recognition honors the paramedics’ commitment to fast, evidence-based treatment during some of the most critical moments of a person’s life. When someone calls 911 for a heart attack or stroke, EMS teams are often the first to begin treatment—sometimes up to an hour faster than if the patient drove to the hospital. That time can make all the difference.
Glen Ellyn paramedics are trained in advanced resuscitation and emergency care, helping stabilize patients quickly and improving their chances of survival. Once at the hospital, these patients often receive faster care because of the work already started in the field.
The Mission: Lifeline EMS® program is a national initiative by the American Heart Association that improves the care system for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive emergencies like heart attacks and strokes. It emphasizes coordination between EMS providers and hospitals to ensure patients get the right care, right away.
“EMS professionals play a crucial role in saving lives during cardiac and stroke emergencies,” said Dr. Edward Jauch, chair of research at the University of North Carolina Health Sciences. “Their early actions give patients the best shot at recovery and long-term health.” “The Mission: Lifeline award is a meaningful way to recognize the skill, speed, and teamwork of EMS crews,” he added.
Tim Doubek, EMS Director for Glen Ellyn, shared, “We’re honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association. This award reflects our team’s dedication to delivering top-quality care when every second counts.”
