Fire Company Welcomes New Firefighters & Celebrates Promotions

On Monday, July 22, 2024, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company held a Badge Pinning Ceremony during the Village Board meeting. This time-honored tradition signifies the introduction of members to their new duties. Two current members, Russ Lewandowski and Patrick Clark, were promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Eight new members—Andy Russell, Mike Lemm, Jeff Girling, Drew McMahon, Kevin Kocmond, Trajan McGill, Dan Kolz, and Chris Thomson—completed rigorous training and evaluation, demonstrating the necessary character and skill to earn the rank of firefighter. Their additions bring the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company to near-record membership levels. The new members and lieutenants will continue Glen Ellyn’s rich tradition of “Neighbors Protecting Neighbors” since 1907.
